Three things you didn't know about email marketing:
1. Your email doesn't have to include images.
There is a little bit of a misconception that a perfect email or perfect newsletter is a newsletter with a lot of images. This is wrong, if I think about most of the best newsletters that I've signed up for, they are actually text only as crazy as it sounds.
It's possible to create an amazing and compelling email without images.
Images are actually a factor that can make your emails land up in people's spam email.
So definitely reconsider if you're using a lot of images in your emails.
2. Deceptive subject lines are actually against the law.
There are what we call anti-spam regulations. Here in Europe we have GDPR and in the U.S there's another one and so on depending on the country.
These regulations talk about the fact that subject lines should tell the audience what the email is about exactly.
So when you receive an email with a subject line, such as, "Oh, I made a mistake" or something like that, you ended up clicking and opening the email because you're curious, they're quite instigating, right?
But it's actually not a good practice. Make sure that in your subject line, you're always telling the reader what the email is about.
3. The more personalized, the better!
Email marketing platforms nowadays, offer you the opportunity to personalize your emails.
You can include people's first name in the subject line or in the content of the email and it doesn't even have to be their first name only, it can include any information that you know about the person.
This is cool because it actually makes it sound like the email was written for them and there's a lot of statistics in marketing that show that personalized emails have a much higher engagement rate.
And that was, that's what I have for today.
